CHENNAI: A sessions court on Monday rejected former minister V Senthil Balaji's plea seeking to make available missing bank documents collected by the ED as part of its money laundering probe against him.

The court also extended the remand of Senthil Balaji till July 10. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on June 14, 2023 in a money laundering case.

Principal Sessions Judge S Alli, before whom Senthil Balaji was produced by the prosecution through video-conferencing from the Central Puzhal jail here on Monday, also extended his judicial custody till July 10.

The judge rejected a petition filed by Senthil Balaji, seeking production of the missing documents in "Reliable Documents Nos.-16 and 17" – copies of counterfoil challans related to his account that the ED collected in its investigation. Were from. Him.

However, the judge allowed another petition seeking submission of a covering letter addressed to the ED by the Manager, City Union Bank Limited, Karur, relating to his bank account.

The judge fixed July 10 for further hearing on another petition filed by Balaji, seeking adjournment of the present proceedings and adjourning the case to a later date.

Balaji was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to the cash-for-jobs scam when he was the transport minister during the erstwhile AIADMK regime.

Many of his bail pleas have been rejected by the courts.
