Lucknow (UP): The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of ​​MLA Abbas Ansari in a case of conspiracy to escape from Chitrakoot jail.

This order was passed by a single bench of Justice Jaspreet Singh.

The court also advised Abbas Ansari, MLA of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, that he holds a responsible post and hence his conduct should be of high order.

The court said in its order that it is never appropriate that a lawmaker is seen breaking the law.

The court further said that on the basis of cameras installed in the jail and statements of witnesses, the involvement of the accused in the case is being prima facie established and considering his background and family history, it cannot be said that the allegations are true. are baseless.

In this case, Ansari has been accused of conspiring to escape from jail, as well as meeting his wife by ignoring the rules in jail, threatening witnesses and being involved in a conspiracy of extortion and giving gifts to jail officials and staff. .

In this matter, an FIR was lodged by Sub Inspector Shyam Dev Singh at Kotwali Karvi police station of Chitrakoot district on 11 February 2023.

Ansari is an MLA from Mau assembly constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
