Muzaffarpur (Bihar): A Chinese has been arrested for allegedly not having valid travel documents in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said on Friday.

Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rakesh Kumar said the Chinese man was caught near Lakshmi Chowk under the jurisdiction of Brahmapura police station on Thursday.

The SSP said a map of China, a mobile phone and three small stone idols were recovered from his possession.

The Chinese, identified as Li Jiaqi, is a resident of the neighboring country's Shandong province.

"The Chinese man was arrested for not carrying valid travel documents, including visa. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act," the official said.

The SSP said that senior police officers are interrogating him to find out the purpose of his visit to India.
