In his testimony Wednesday before the commission investigating alleged foreign interference in the election, Trudeau said the election was fixed by the Candidians.

The commission was formed last year following media reports about China's interference in the elections.

However, the Chinese Embassy in Canada denied any interference in Canadian affairs.

The commission is set to complete its preliminary report by May 3 and its final report by the end of 2024, The Guardian reports.

Earlier, India was accused of interfering in the elections and later Canada rejected this allegation.

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) said Monday that China has carried out "covert and deceptive" interference in Canada's elections.

“We are aware that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) covertly and fraudulently interfered in both the 2019 and 2021 elections,” CSIS said during a briefing to the commission.

Trudeau's Liberal Party won both elections.

Erin O'Toole, the Conservatives' lead campaigner during the 2021 election, estimated that her party could lose up to nine seats due to Chinese "interference".
