Noida: The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday arrested a Noida-based businessman in connection with the investigation into the alleged Chhattisgarh liquor scam. The officers provided this information.

According to the FIR lodged at Kasna police station, Gupta's PHSF was illegally awarded a tender to supply holograms to the excise department of Chhattisgarh.“The company was not eligible to participate in the tender process, but I colluded with the owners of the company, senior officers of Chhattisgarh Arunpati Tripathi ITS (Special Secretary Excise), Niranjan Das IA (Excise Commissioner), Anil Tuteja IAS, etc. The ED official had said in the FIR, “The tender was illegally allotted to M/s Prism Holography Films Pvt. Ltd., Noida as per the tender conditions.”

"In return, they took a commission of 8 paise per hologram and also took a commitment to supply unaccounted duplicate holograms to commit the heinous crime of selling illicit country liquor bottles from government shops in Chhattisgarh," it alleged. ,

The ED official said the hologram is actually a security feature to ensure that certified liquor is sold in the state.But PHSF's action in creating duplicate holograms in Noida did not allow the "liquor syndicate" to use the same security feature to fool gullible common consumers, the officer said.

Holograms were made in a factory in Noida and then transported to Chhattisgarh. The official said PHSF was given the contract to supply 80 crore holograms over five years at a highly inflated price in lieu of on-demand supply or duplicate holograms.
