Raipur: According to the trends available for one of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state after the initial round of vote counting, BJP is ahead in Bastar Lok Sabha seat, an official said.

Counting of votes began at 8 am on Tuesday at 33 centers and postal ballots were counted in the first half hour.

The contest in Bastar is between Congress's firebrand leader Kawasi Lakhma and BJP's new face Mahesh Kashyap.

Local news channels reported that BJP's Brijmohan Agarwal is leading over Congress's Vikas Upadhyay in the high-profile Raipur seat.

In the three general elections from 2004 to 2014, the BJP won 10 out of 11 seats. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won nine seats, while the Congress won two.
