Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra government on Tuesday appointed senior bureaucrat Dilip Gawde as the new divisional commissioner of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, while IPS officer Praveen Pawar will be the next police chief of the city.

A 2004 batch IPS officer, Pawar is currently serving as Joint Commissioner of Police in Pune.

According to an order here, IAS officer Gawde will replace Madhukar Ardad as divisional commissioner of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the largest city in the Marathwada region of central Maharashtra.

Earlier, after the retirement of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissioner Manoj Lohia, Inspector General (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sandeep Patil was appointed the acting police chief.

Now IPS officer Pawar Chhatrapati will be the new police commissioner of Sambhajinagar.
