The flight, which was originally scheduled to depart on Thursday afternoon, is now scheduled to take off at 11 am on Friday after a delay of more than 20 hours.

According to journalist Shweta Punj, who shared the incident on .

“If there is any story of privatization that has failed it is that of @airindia @DGCAIndia A 183 flight was delayed for over 8 hours, passengers were asked to board the plane without air conditioning, and then in flight Some people were taken off after they became unconscious. This is inhuman!” he said in a series of tweets.

“Growing up I frequently flew Air India – when I moved to the US in the mid-2000s.. it was my favorite airline.. the choice was largely driven by homesickness and a sense of patriotism .The airline wasn't that luxurious, but it wasn't that broke either,” he said.

In a tweet on Friday morning, he said that the passengers were sent to a hotel late last night, to be returned to the airport at 8:00 am and now they have been asked to go back to the hotel.

“Tata acquires this airline in 2022. Over 2.5 years, the airline has lagged behind. The conditions it created for its passengers could have formed the basis of a lawsuit for endangering life in another country. But that's another battle. To those who are victims of fire tragedies due to blatant violation of rules, to those who are victims of inflated hospital bills and school fees. Let us assume that the consumer class is being crushed in India,” he said in the tweet.

Meanwhile, Air India, in response to the tweet, said that they are working on a solution to the delay.

“Dear Ms. Punj, We are really sorry to see the disruptions. Please be assured that our team is actively working to resolve the delay and appreciate your continued support and understanding. We are also alerting our team to provide necessary assistance to the passengers,” it said on X.
