Champai Soren was sworn in on February 2, just two days after two-time Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a land scam case.
Earlier on Wednesday, during a meeting of MLAs and leaders of the JMM-led alliance at Hemant Soren's residence here, Champai Soren offered to step down as chief minister and proposed the name of Hemant Soren, to which those present at the meeting agreed. Expressed.

The political scenario in the state changed on June 28 when Hemant Soren got bail from the Jharkhand High Court in the land scam case.
It was also decided in the meeting that Hemant Soren will lead the alliance for the assembly elections to be held in Jharkhand later this year.
