MUMBAI: Some suburban and long-distance trains of the Central Railway were delayed due to a cattle crushing incident as well as technical glitches near Kasar station on Wednesday evening, officials said.

A local train going to Kasara was stopped for a long time between Kharadi and Umbermali stations after it was hit by a cattle on the track at around 5.30 pm.

Due to this incident, there was a malfunction in the braking system of the local train, so it was taken to Kasara station with the help of auxiliary engine.

Officials said at least five long-distance trains and some other local trains were delayed as a result.

Another railway official said the Titwala-bound Tez suburban local suffered a technical glitch near Mumbai's Ghatkopar station at around 6 pm.

After 20 to 25 minutes, the train resumed the journey and he was taken to Than station where he was shifted to the car shed.

Some passengers complained that the late running of the local resulted in increased crowding on the platform and in the local train. Some trains were running late by at least 30-4 minutes.
