Noida, A woman here has claimed to have found a centipede inside an ice cream tub she ordered through an instant delivery app, said food safety officials, who have started investigating the matter.

In a post on X on June 15, a woman identifying herself as Deepa Devi shared a photo showing a worm inside an ice cream tub.

"Finding a worm inside my Amul India ice cream was really worrying. Quality control and food safety should never be compromised. FSSAI publication has to take some legal action on such incidents, the number of which is increasing day by day. Has been." He posted.

The Noida Food Safety Department has collected samples of the brand's ice cream from the stores of instant delivery company Blinkit for testing, officials said.

Chief Food Safety Officer Akshay Goyal said, "The sample has been taken and sent to the laboratory for testing. We are in the process of registering a case regarding violation of the provisions of the Food Safety Act, 2006."

He said the food safety department took suo motu cognizance of the woman's social media post and contacted her.

According to the official, the packaging date on the ice cream tubs was April 15, 2024 and the expiry date was April 15, 2025.

"The matter is still under investigation. All facts will be confirmed only after we get the lab report," Goyal said.
