New Delhi [India], Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has directed all States and Union Territories (UTs) to implement weekly stock disclosure of pulses by all stockholding entities. According to a press release, the directive mandates verification of pulses. Stock in warehouses located in major ports and pulses industry centres, strict action against entities submitting wrong information on the stock disclosure portal, said Nidhi Khare, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, chairing a meeting with Principal Secretaries and Secretaries on Wednesday. Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Departments of the States are advised to strengthen the implementation of this Directive to the States and Union Territories regarding the need for strict monitoring of the stock position and price trends of pulses to prevent hoarding and market manipulation.
