National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted NEET-UG on May 5 in offline OMR mode.

"Some cases of alleged irregularities/fraud/impersonation/malpractices have come to light. In the interest of transparency in the conduct of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has decided to refer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation after review. For a comprehensive investigation For (CBI), the Center said in a statement.

"The Central Government has also enacted the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 to provide for the prevention of unfair means in public examinations and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto," it said.

NEET-UG, short for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), is conducted by NTA for admission to undergraduate medical programmes.
