Kolkata: The CBI on Friday raided the residences of two Trinamool Congress leaders in Kathi in West Bengal's East Medinipur district in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of a BJP worker in the 2021 post-poll violence, an official said.

He said a team of CBI officers raided the houses of Kathi Block No. 3 TMC leader Debabrata Panda and another block president Nanddulal Maiti in the early hours of Friday in connection with their ongoing investigation.

"Panda, Nandadulal's son and 52 others have been named in the FIR registered in connection with the murder of Janmejay Dolui," the CBI official said.

BJP worker Dolui was killed in the post-poll violence after the 2020 assembly elections.

The CBI official said 30 people were called for questioning in connection with the case but no one turned up.

"We are raiding places associated with these people. We do not need to interrogate them," he said.
