The cash van was stopped during a special vigilance operation by Powa police station about 4 days ago and it was seized after checking the contents.

Later, an official said the Income Tax Department was informed and sent a team to verify the history of the cash seized from the van driver and an attendant.

A top police officer, on condition of anonymity, said, "Prima facie, it appears to be an ATM cash van of some bank, but we are waiting for the official report from the IT department. Once they give the green signal, then We will take further necessary action." , told IANS.

He said if the details of the origin and destination of the cash are genuine then the police will release the van, which is currently in their custody at the police station.
