Khan was murdered on Tuesday evening. The gunner was a supporter of former M Dhananjay Singh, who is now in jail.

Police said Anish Khan had an altercation with his neighbor Pandu on Tuesday morning, and when he had gone to buy some items from Reethi market near his house under Sikrara police station in the evening, she shot him.

The post mortem report revealed that he had been stabbed several times with a sharp weapon.

The accused, identified as Aniket and Prince, have been named in the FIR along with Pandu in connection with the murder of Anish Khan, a senior police officer said.

He said witnesses told police that Pandu opened fire on Khan, while two others hit him multiple times. He told that all three are absconding since the incident and police teams are conducting raids in search of the three accused.

Sikrara Inspector Yuzvendra Kumar Singh said on Thursday that Pandu and Anees Khan used to work together earlier and both their names had also appeared in a case, but I am yet to know why differences arose between them.

He said that on the complaint of the deceased's wife Reshma Bano, an FIR has been registered against the three and further investigation is underway. He said police deployment continued in the area for the second consecutive day to prevent any law and order problem during the elections.

The incident took place in Bansaf village, about 2 km away from Dhananjay Singh's house.

After a brief conversation, the attackers opened fire on Khan and fled from the scene. Locals informed the police about the incident and took Khan to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
