Thane: Six people have been booked for allegedly defrauding a businessman of Rs 25 lakh at Mira Road in Thane district. A police officer gave this information on Friday.
The Mira Road police station officer said the six accused lured him into partnering in the flour mill business between June last year and June 2024 and cheated him after investing Rs 24.98 lakh.
He identified the accused as Riku alias Avinash Phatak, Sishodiya alias Manish Thakur, Ashraf Chaudhary, Jamal Ansari, Ashish Mishra and Jagarti Manish Chaudhary.
The officer said he has been charged under IPC sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating).
