Thane police have registered an FIR against two persons for organizing a bullock cart race in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai without permission and injuring a person during the event, an official said on Wednesday.



The event was organized between 10 am and 4 pm on May 19 in Nere village of Panvel taluka without permission from the authorities, an official from the Panvel taluka police station said.



During the race, a bullock cart rider drove recklessly and fast. As a result, the vehicle hit an 18-year-old man, causing him to fall and suffer serious head injuries, he said.

Police on Tuesday registered a case against the race organizer and an unidentified driver of the Indian Penal Code under sections 188 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and Case registered under. The officer said, Section 289 (negligent conduct towards animals).
