Mumbai: Police have registered a case against a 46-year-old hotelier from Mumbai's Worli and his elderly parents for assaulting his wife and mentally torturing her, an official said on Wednesday.

He said that the victim said in her complaint that her husband used to demand money from her parents and she also suspected him of having extramarital affairs.

Police said the 43-year-old woman lodged a complaint on June 13 against her husband, Prahlad Advani, his father Sundergurdas, 85, and mother Maneka, 78.

He said the victim's husband owns and operates a luxury beach resort as part of his hotel and resort business in Goa.

Police said his wife Shahana said in her complaint that he was tortured between November 2012 and June 12, 2024, following which a case of criminal breach of trust, intentional infliction of hurt, intentional insult was registered.

The accused hotelier allegedly assaulted his wife and mentally tortured her on several occasions. The FIR states that he also demanded a wrist watch worth Rs 5 lakh at the time of his marriage and his wish was fulfilled by his father.

It said that in 2017, the complainant's father had sold his property in Manali, following which Advani and his parents started demanding a share in the proceeds.

As the victim refused to leave her father's property, Advani assaulted her and subjected her to physical and mental torture.

In her complaint, the woman also accused her husband of suspecting her of having an extramarital affair.
