As many as 204 candidates will contest for eight Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai, Maharashtra on Friday, where the high-voltage campaign for the second phase of voting ended on Wednesday evening.

Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm at 16,589 polling stations in the Lok Sabha seats of Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal-Vashi in Western Vidarbha, Hingoli, Nanded and Parbhani in Marathwada.

A total of 1,49,25,912 voters – 77,21,374 men, 72,04,106 women and 432 of the third gender – are eligible to exercise their franchise and decide the electoral fate of 204 candidates.

Amravati has the highest number of candidates at 37, followed by Parbhani (34) and Hingoli (33).

Wardha (24), Nanded (23), Buldhana (21), Yavatmal-Washim (17) and Akola (15).In the second phase, there will be a face-off between Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) on Buldhana, Yavatmal-Washim and Hingoli seats.

In Buldhana, sitting Shiv Sena MP Prataprao Jadhav is contesting from Narendra Khedekar of Sena (UBT).

In Yavatmal-Washim, Shiv Sena has removed sitting MP Bhavana Gwali and has fielded Rajshree Patil, wife of the party's Hingoli MP Hemant Patil. TH Sena (UBT) has fielded Sanjay Deshmukh as its candidate.

In Hingoli, sitting Shiv Sena MP Hemant Patil has been removed and the party has fielded Baburao Kohalikar.



In Parbhani, Mahadev Jankar of the Rashtriya Samaj Party, an ally of the ruling 'Mahayuti' (grand alliance) in the state, is contesting against incumbent M Sanjay Jadhav of the Sena (UBT).Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), led by Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Dr BR Ambedkar, is contesting on seven out of eight seats.

Prakash Ambedkar himself is contesting elections from Akola. His brother Anandaraj Ambedka is in the fray as a Republic Sena candidate in Amravati.

There is a triangular contest in Akola between BJP's Anup Dhotre, Congress candidate Abhay Patil and Prakash Ambedkar.

Amravati will see a contest between sitting independent MP Navneet Rana, who is not contesting as a BJP candidate, and Balwant Wankhede of the Congress. Dinesh Boo is the candidate of ruling coalition partner Prahar Janshakti Party, which has two MLAs in the assembly.

Wardha will see a contest between sitting BJP MP Ramdas Tadas and former Congress MLA Amar Kale, who is contesting on an NCP (SP) ticket.In Nanded, sitting BJP MP Pratap Chikhlikar is facing Congress candidate Vasant Chavan.

After the second phase, voting will be completed in the entire Vidarbha region of the state. On April 19, 63.70 per cent voting was recorded in five seats of eastern Vidarbha - Nagpur, Ramtek Chandrapur, Bhandara-Gondia and Gadchiroli-Chimur.Counting of votes cast in the Lok Sabha elections will take place on June 4.
