Ranchi: The election campaign in Jharkhand came to an end on Thursday after two months of furious campaigning by political bigwigs with an eye on the state's 14 Lok Sabha seats.

A total of 52 candidates are contesting in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections to be held on June 1, which is the fourth round of elections in the state, including one each from Dumka and Godda and 14 candidates from Rajmahal seat.

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar told reporters that the campaign period in all the three parliamentary constituencies going to polls on June 1 ended at 5 pm.

He said that voting will be held at 6,258 polling stations from 7 am to 5 pm.

Kumar said that more than 53.23 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the three constituencies of the state.In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won Dumka and Godda seats, while JM won Rajmahal seat.

Top leaders of both NDA and India Bloc have left no stone unturned in garnering people's support in their favor in the final phase.

On May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Dumka to seek votes for all three party candidates in the Santhal Pargana region—Sita Soren from Dumka, Tala Marandi from Rajmahal and Nishikant Dubey from Godda.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to hold a rally in Sahibganj on March 27, but his helicopter could not land due to bad weather. However, he addressed the rally through his phone.

On May 29, BJP President JP Nadda, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav campaigned for BJP candidates.

On the other hand, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, jailed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren's wife Kalpana Soren and top state Congress leaders campaigned extensively for the India Bloc candidates.On Thursday, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi addressed several rallies in Dumka and Sahibganj.

BJP has fielded Hemant Soren's sister-in-law Sita Soren from Dumka seat, Tala Marandi from Rajmahal and Nishikant Dubey from Godda seat.

For the India block, JMM has nominated its Shikaripada MLA Nalin Soren from Dumak and sitting MP Vijay Hansdak from Rajmahal seat. Congress has fielded Pradeep Yadav from Godda Lok Sabha seat.

Voting in Jharkhand began on May 13 in four Lok Sabha constituencies - Singhbhum, Khunti, Lohardaga and Palamu. Three of these constituencies were reserved for Scheduled Tribes, while Palamu Sagar was designated for Scheduled Castes. A total of 45 candidates participated in this phase and the voter turnout was 66.01 percent.

In line with the fifth phase across the country, the second round of voting will also be held on May 20 for three Lok Sabha seats - Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribagh.In the third phase, 54 candidates were in the fray and 64.39 percent voting was recorded.

On May 25, Jharkhand went to polls for the third phase, with 9 candidates contesting from four Lok Sabha seats - Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi and Jamshedpur. 67.68 percent voting took place in this phase.
