The deceased, Lakshmi, a native of Uttar Pradesh who worked as a field massage therapist, was murdered at Mohit Guest House in Jharsa village on Saturday, police said.

The accused was identified as Anil Pahal, 40, a resident of Jyoti Park, Gurugram and works as a customs broker in Delhi.

According to the police, they received information that a woman had been murdered in a guest house in Jharsa village.

On receiving the information, the police team reached the spot, took possession of the body and kept it in the mortuary for post-mortem and informed the relatives of the deceased.

The elder sister of the deceased told the police on Sunday that the caretaker of the guest house told them that Anil Pahal had booked a room on Friday. On Saturday, he called his sister through a broker and raped her and when she protested, he strangled her to death.

Based on his complaint, a case of murder was registered against the culprit at Sadar Police Station in Gurugram.

During the investigation, the Crime Branch team arrested the accused Anil from Ashok Vihar area of ​​Gurugram on Sunday.

During interrogation, the accused told the police that on September 6, he had booked a room at Mohit Guest House in Jharsa and the next day he called the victim through a broker. He paid her Rs 5,000, after which the girl demanded Rs 2,500. “Which led to a verbal altercation and in a fit of rage he killed the victim and fled the spot with the mobile phone of the deceased,” Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said.
