The proceedings in the case have been stayed till June 17.

During the hearing on Friday, a single bench of Justice Amrita Sinha said that a prayer has been made to quash the proceedings and FIR in the case which is at the interim stage.

The petitioners said that

Justice Sinha said that the main allegation the complainant woman had made against him was that she was made to sit inside a room and her path was blocked.

“But somehow she walked out of the room and at this stage, it does not seem that the interim stay on proceedings till June 17 will affect the investigation. I, in the meantime, allow the report to be presented again before the regular bench. The court is opening,” Justice Sinha said.

The counsel for the petitioners questioned why their road was blocked 13 days after the alleged incident.

The lawyer argued that despite the complainant claiming that she somehow went out of the room, Section 341 of the IPC (punishment for wrongful restraint) has been invoked in the case.

Justice Sinha said that since the use of certain words in the FIR appeared 'absurd', he decided to grant an interim stay on the proceedings.
