Hoshiarpur, Bahujan Samaj Party on Thursday declared Makhan Singh as its candidate from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat.

Information in this regard was shared by BSP in-charge of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh Randhir Singh Beniwal.

Punjab BSP chief Jasvir Singh Garhi said that Makhan Singh has a long association with the party.

Currently, he is serving as the general secretary of the state unit of BSP.

Makhan Singh had retired from the post of Deputy Director of the State Health Department.

Sangrur Lok Sabha seat is currently represented by Shiromani Akali Da (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann. AAP has fielded Gurmeet Singh Meet Haye from Sangrur seat.

Beniwal said that the candidates for the remaining seats will be announced soon.

Earlier, the Mayawati-led organization announced its candidates from Hoshiarpur and Ferozepur seats.

BSP has already announced to contest the parliamentary elections alone.

Voting for 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab will be held on June 1.
