New Delhi: State-owned BSNL will start 4G services across the country from August using completely indigenous technology in line with the government's "self-reliant" policy, according to official sources.

BSNL officials claim to have recorded a maximum speed of 40-45 megabits per second on the 4G network, which has been launched in the premium spectrum band of 70 megahertz (MHz) as well as the 2,100 MHz band during the pilot phase. .

The company has launched 4G services in Punjab using technology developed indigenously by a consortium led by IT company TCS and state-run telecom research organization C-DOT and has onboarded around 8 lakh customers.

“The 4G core developed by C-DOT is performing very well in the BSNL network in Punjab. It was installed in July last year.It takes 12 months to prove the success of such a complex technology but C-DOT has stabilized within Core 1." Core network is a collection of network hardware, devices, and software that provides fundamental services in telecommunications networks. TCS, Tejas Networks and government-owned ITI have received orders worth around Rs 19,000 crore from BSNL to deploy 4G networks that will be upgraded to 5G.In a recent earnings call, Tejas Networks Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Arnobh Roy said that BSNL's mobile network is being deployed in various areas.

He said that wherever C-DOT core is not available on the BSNL network, the equipment is being integrated into the existing core.

"When C-DOT Core gets deployed in those circles, in those areas, they will also be connected to C-DOT Core. Tejas Networks Ltd.
