AGARTALA: The Border Security Force (BSF) has stepped up security at sensitive posts and launched action against smugglers and brokers promoting human trafficking, a senior official said.

BSF Tripura Frontier Inspector General (IG) Patel Piyush Purushottam Das said that during recent talks with Bangladesh Border Guards in Shillong, a dossier containing the list of Bangladeshi criminals operating in the border areas has been handed over to the neighboring country's force.

"BGB has assured us that action will be taken against them as per law," Das told reporters here on Saturday.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has recently highlighted the recent increase in infiltration along the international border in the northeastern state.

Das said both the border guarding forces have agreed to identify sensitive stretches and carry out specially coordinated joint patrolling.

He said that the concerned officials have been asked to launch intelligence based operations to nab smugglers and brokers.

He said additional teams were being deployed and special attention was being given to joint operations with the state police.

Das further said that physical domination has been enhanced with surveillance technology that includes AI-enabled cameras and facial recognition tools.
