London, Veteran actor Brian Cox has called Joaquin Phoenix's performance in Ridley Scott's "Napoleon" "really terrible".

Cox, who played media mogul Logan Roy in "Succession," said the historical drama did not live up to expectations.

"It's terrible," Cox said at London's Histfest, according to British outlet The Evening Standard.

"A really terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It's really horrifying. Don't know what he was thinking. I think it's completely his fault and I don't think Ridley Scott helps him. I think it's Joaqui Could have played better than Phoenix, I tell you this. No - that's a lie.

Cox, 77, also had something to say about Phoenix's name.

"I think he's got a good name. Joaquin... Wacken... Wacky. It's kind of a wacky show."
