Siwach started for India with a 5-0 win over Turkey's Olympia Batuhan Siftasi in the pre-quarterfinal round and then Sanjeet saw off the challenge of Venezuela's Luis Sanchez by the same margin in the round of 32.

As per the rules, only three boxers in the men's 57kg category will make it to the CU for the Paris Olympics, so Sivach will have to win two more bouts to make the cut, while Sanjeet, who got a bye in the round of 64, will Will get a chance. Same goal as all four semi-finalists will qualify in their weight category.

Against an experienced boxer, Sivach went all out in Round 1 and the strategy worked for him as he quickly took control of the fight. Round 2 also saw H earn a unanimous decision and although Siftsi attempted a comeback in the third and final round, the Indian was too comfortable in the end.

The 92kg clash between Sanjeet and Sanchez was a similar affair, as the 2021 Asian Championships gold medalist kept his Venezuelan opponent at bay in Round 1.

Sanchez showed some flashes in Rounds 2 and 3 but the experienced Sanjeet kept him at bay and counterattacked with his punches to win easily.

Later in the day, Jasmine gave Azerbaijan's Mahsati Hamzayeva no fighting chance and won her round of 32 bout in the women's 57kg category with a 5:0 decision.

2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Amit Panghal completed a brilliant day for the Indian contingent as he defeated Mexico's Mauricio Rui 4-1.

The Indian national champion was under pressure in round 1, but he picked up the pace in the last minute of the round and then turned the match around with some combination punches in the third and final round and won.
