The pair lost to the unseeded German pair of Hendrik Jebens and Konstantin Frantzen in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(4) in just over an hour of play.

Bopanna and Ebden, who won the Australian Open earlier this year, were behind at the start of the match after conceding a break in the first set. The breakpoint proved crucial for the Germans as they took the opening set.

In the second set, despite the resilience of Bopanna and Ebden, Jebens and Frantzen emerged victorious in the tie-breaker as the score was tied at five games apiece when play was interrupted by rain.

The Germans went all out to seal the tie-breaker after the restart and took a massive 4-1 lead. He maintained this rhythm till the end and ended the campaign of Bopanna and Ebden in the tournament.

With Bopanna's defeat in the second round, India's campaign at Wimbledon 2024 ended.

Earlier, Yuki Bhambri, N Balaji and Sumit Nagal lost their men's doubles matches with their respective partners, while Nagal also made a first round exit in the men's singles.
