Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday assured strict action against the culprits in the BMW case and announced Rs 10 lakh assistance for the victim's family, amid criticism that the main accused is the son of his party leader.

He said there is no question of supporting anyone and no one will be spared.

“Whoever is guilty will not be spared; Strict action will be taken against them,” Shinde told reporters here.

“We stand with the family of the victim. We will provide legal and financial support to the victim's family. We will give him Rs 10 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. They are from our family,” he said.

A BMW car driven by key accused Mihir Shah allegedly hit a two-wheeler in Worli area of ​​south-central Mumbai on Sunday morning, killing pillion rider Kaveri Nakhwa (45) while her husband Pradeep was injured. Went.

According to the police, Nakhawa was dragged by the speeding car for about 1.5 km before Mihir stopped her, swapped seats with his driver Rajrishi Bidawat and fled in another vehicle. The driver allegedly crushed the BMW while reversing it.

Mihir Shah was arrested on Tuesday.

Police had said that Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader from nearby Palghar district, actively ensured Mihir's escape after the accident. He is currently out on bail. On Wednesday, Shiv Sena's deputy leader Rajesh Shah was dismissed from the post.
