Pune: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's descendant and BJP candidate Udayanraje Bhosale on Tuesday won Maharashtra's Satara Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 32,771 votes.

In a close contest, Bhosale got 5,71,134 votes, while NCP (SP) candidate Shashikant Shinde got 5,38,363 votes.

Bhosale won the Satara seat on an NCP ticket in the 2019 general election, but later joined the BJP and lost the by-election to NCP's Srinivas Patil.

Although Satara was an NCP seat, BJP managed to claim it during seat-sharing with Mayuti allies.
