Itanagar, BJP leader Ninong Ering on Thursday took oath as the Protem Speaker of the 8th Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.

Governor Lieutenant General (retd) KT Paranayak administered the oath of office to Ering at an official ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan here.

When the House is called, he will administer the oath to the newly elected MLAs of the Assembly.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, her deputy Chauna Mein and other newly-sworn-in cabinet ministers were present on the occasion.

Ering, who had won the Pasighat West assembly seat on a Congress ticket in the 2019 elections, joined the BJP on April 19, days before the simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha elections on this seat.

This time also he retained this seat.
