Ahmedabad, BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' (manifesto) for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is a concrete guarantee of a new, capable and developed India, while the letter issued by the Congress is divisive and driven by appeasement politics. Union Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday.

Singh said the Congress failed to eradicate poverty during its long rule, while the Narendra Modi government managed to lift 25 crore citizens out of poverty in the last 8-9 years.

“Congress lacks the leadership, policy and intent to take the country forward. The BJP government is committed to bringing India among the top three economies by 2027. Our manifesto is a concrete guarantee of a new, capable and developed India .The Congress' manifesto is divisive and appeasement-driven, he claimed.

Emphasizing that India will become the world's third largest economy by 2027, Singh said there are many reasons for this, the foremost among them being the strong and credible leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has vision, mission and passion.

The Congress, on the other hand, has no leader, policy or intention, he said, adding that the party was the "biggest organizer" of the "Olympics of corruption" played in the 10 years of the UPA rule.

He said, "Congress had talked about ending poverty since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. But despite ruling for more than 50 years, it failed to do so.In the last 8-9 years alone, our government has been successful in eliminating 25 years of poverty. Crores of people are above the poverty line," Singh said.

He stressed that the Modi government is still not satisfied and wants to completely eliminate poverty from the country in the next 5-10 years.

Singh said the BJP has already started its Lok Sabha victory march from Surat in Gujarat, where the party's Mukesh Dalal won unopposed after Congress's Nilesh Kumbhani's nomination form was rejected and others withdrew their nominations.

However, Congress is claiming that democracy is in danger in the country. What is its basis? Even before this, 28 members were elected unopposed in the Lok Sabha, which included members from Congress, Samajwadi Party, National Conference etc. Senior BJP leader said, Congress is saying such things out of frustration of defeat.

He said that it was the Congress which had many times endangered democracy by imposing emergency and President's rule in the states.

Highlighting the BJP government's fight against corruption, Singh said the Enforcement Directorate has seized assets worth over Rs 1 lakh crore and cash worth Rs 22,000 crore since 2014.

Singh claimed that the low turnout in the first two phases of the Lok Sabha elections was because supporters of the opposition INDI alliance were not seen at the booths as they knew it would not form the government.
