Rourkela (Odisha) [India], Amid speculations that he could be the frontrunner for the Chief Minister's post if BJD wrests Odisha in the ongoing assembly elections, Jual Oram, sitting BJP MP and party candidate from Sundergarh Lok Sabha constituency Said that he does not aspire to any post, but if he is entrusted with the task of leadership in the state, he will discharge his duties honestly. The ruling Biju Janata Dal has named former Indian hockey captain Dilip Tirkey as its candidate against Oram from Sundergarh constituency, speaking to ANI on Saturday. Although I do not aspire to become the CM, I will not refuse the job if offered." There are lots of opportunities."There are other capable leaders in our party who can be considered for the CM post. However, whatever decision our party leadership takes, we will abide by it," the BJP MP said, taking a dig at the ruling BJD in the state. There is no democracy in Odisha. The state is being ruled by bureaucrats. The Chief Minister has become ineffective due to increasing age and deteriorating health. He has failed to present any leader to whom he can hand over command.VK Pandian (former IA with cabinet rank in the government) roams around the state and does as per his wish, without any regard for the ministers. In a way the state is under autocratic rule, dictatorship. His expiry date has been fixed as June 4. Confident that the BJP is on track to form the government both at the Center and in the state, Oram said, "Understanding the pulse of the people here, I can say with full confidence and conviction that the mandate will cross 400 in Delhi, Odisha Will be in favor of 'BJP government' (returning to power at the Center with more than 400 seats and also forming the government in Odisha), the tribal leader said that the current Lok Sabha elections will be his last election. Wants to hand over the reins to the next generation of leaders, “I have contested eight Lok Sabha elections and have also contested assembly elections twice. So, I have contested about 10 elections. Although I do not want to be in active politics, I do not want to contest elections anymore. One has to work very hard to contest elections. Being a senior leader in the party, I have been entrusted with a lot of responsibilities. I often wish I could be relieved of some of my burdens and hand over the reins to the next generation of leaders. I don't want to leave it (contesting elections) to young leaders. This will be my last election," Oram said. Meanwhile, speaking to ANI on Saturday, BJD's Dilip Tirkey said, "The campaign is ending today and we have received a positive response from the people. People are with BJD and our CM Naveen Patnaik. Everyone wants Naveen Patnaik to become CM for the sixth time. We will get full majority in the Assembly and will also perform well in the Lok Sabha elections.I would urge the people of Sundargarh to vote early as the heat is likely to become unbearable as the day progresses.
