Bengaluru: A BJP worker riding a motorcycle was crushed by a bus and fell down after it hit the open door of Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje's car in KR Puram on Monday.

According to the police, the incident took place near the Ganesh temple in the area. The deceased was identified as Prakash and died on the spot.

Karandlaje is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru North seat and Prakash was following her convoy during her election campaign.

Sources said that the minister was inside the car. As soon as his car door opened, Prakash collided with it and fell.

The minister said a bus coming from behind crushed him, resulting in his instant death. It was not known whether Karandlaje had opened someone else's door.

Later, speaking to reporters, he expressed grief over Prakash's death.

"We are all saddened. Prakash was our dedicated worker, who was with you round the clock. We are with his family. We will compensate him from our share of funds," the minister told reporters.
