Bengaluru: A BJP worker allegedly riding a bike died after his car rammed into the open door of Union Minister of State for Agriculture Shobh Karandlaje in KR Puram on Monday.

According to the police, the incident took place near the Ganesh temple in the area. The deceased has been identified as Prakash.

Karandlaje is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru North constituency and Prakash was following Karandlaje's convoy during her election campaign.

Sources said that the minister was inside the car. As soon as his car door opened, Prakash collided with it and fell.

The minister said a bus coming from behind crushed him, resulting in his instant death. It was not known whether Karandlaje had opened someone else's door.

Later speaking to reporters, Shobha Karandlaje expressed grief over Prakash's death.

"We are all saddened. Prakash was our dedicated worker, who was with you round the clock. We are with his family. We will pay compensation from your party funds," the minister told reporters.
