Chandigarh, BJP and Congress on Saturday hit out at the AAP government in Punjab, claiming that the Bhagwant Mann government has admitted in the Supreme Court that singer Sidhu Moosewala was murdered after his security was cut.

Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar alleged that the AAP government cannot escape responsibility for the gruesome murder of Moosewala and Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa said a case of murder should be registered against those responsible for reducing the singer's security.

His statements come a day after Punjab Advocate General (AG) Gurminder Singh told the apex court that Moosewala was murdered after his security was reduced. The AG was on Friday arguing the case related to opening of ROA on experimental basis outside the official residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh.

Singh also told that in 2022, the Police Intelligence Headquarters was attacked and rockets were thrown at the building.

The apex court has banned the opening of the road.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta said both the Center and the Punjab government have opposed opening of the road, which has been closed since the 1980s due to apprehensions of danger. On April 22, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the opening of a 500-metre long road connecting Sukhna Lake to Nayagaon in Chandigarh, on a triage basis, from May 1.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, 2022.

In a statement, Jakhar said, "The Mann government first reduced security, then shamelessly publicized it and also took credit for this decision. Now after this admission in the court by the state advocate general, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will also face charges of murder." are equally guilty.” Moosewala's.,

Demanding punitive action against those responsible for reducing the singer's security, Jakhar said the Mann government has changed its stand as per its convenience.

"First they reduced the security of Moosewala and later accepted this decision for the murder. Now the state is using this as an excuse to save its skin and is ensuring that the CM residence in Chandigarh “The roads outside the city and surrounding areas remained blocked,” he said.

Jakhar said, “The information about this security cut was spread with impunity by AAP leaders to gain political mileage.,

Jakhar also accused the state government of adopting a 'pick and choose' policy in providing security to celebrities.

Congress leader Bajwa also demanded strict legal action against those who "leaked" information related to the lack of security cover on the singer.

Bajwa said, "Murder of Moosewala is not a comedy film. It was the most gruesome murder in Punjab in the last several decades. Therefore, the Punjab government will have to fix responsibility. She cannot run away from her duties," Congress said in a statement.
