New Delhi: The ruling AAP on Saturday challenged the BJP to produce documents to prove that trees were cut in the Ridge area after the approval of the Delhi Chief Minister.

AAP's chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said that BJP has got an opportunity to do politics in this matter and from Friday it is showing some documents in which it is said that these trees were cut on the orders of Kejriwal.

He said, "This is impossible as only the Supreme Court can give permission for felling of trees from the ridge area. If BJP has such documents, then they should stop the drama and place these papers before the Supreme Court."

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor hit back and alleged that AAP was "misleading" people.

He said, “All the documents we have shared are signed by the Delhi Chief Minister and the Environment Minister. The AAP government cannot escape responsibility because party leaders are misleading people by saying that the permission was related to a different project "

AAP sources said the Delhi government minister will visit Satbari in the Southern Ridge area where 1,100 trees were removed by the DDA on the instructions of the Lieutenant Governor.

"When the central government agency DDA sought permission to cut trees, the Supreme Court came to know that these trees had already been cut. The court and the Delhi government are demanding answers from the LG and officials working at the behest of BJP but all Are silent." He said.

Kapoor claimed that the documents clearly show that the Chief Minister not only approved the removal of trees but also forced the Lieutenant Governor to give his consent to it by saying that he was bound by the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers.
