Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar said, "When the Maha Vikas Aghadi government waived off 50 per cent premium to builders, why didn't the government decide to reserve 50 per cent houses for Marathi people? Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has been in power for 25 years. After living in India for many years, what did you do for the Marathi people?"

Shelar also claimed that BJP gave houses to mill workers and Marathi speaking people of BDD chawl.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande described the reservation demand as an attempt at extortion and blackmail by Shiv Sena (UBT) against the builders.

He also questioned the motive behind Shiv Sena's (UBT) push for housing reservation and suggested that it was a tactic to blackmail builders and extort money ahead of the Assembly elections.

Citing the financial scam in the Patra Chawl redevelopment project, he claimed that the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led government neglected Marathi families, leaving many families homeless.

Kayande also challenged Anil Parab to clarify under which law 50 percent of the houses should be reserved for Marathi speaking people.
