The constituency comprises eight assembly constituencies - Afzalpur, Jewargi Chittapur, Kalaburagi North, Kalaburagi South, Kalaburagi Rural, Sedam and Gurmitkal constituency in Kalaburagi district and Yadgir district. There are a total of 20,65,018 registered voters, including 10,34,005 males, 10 ₹30,677 are women and 336 belong to the third gender.From Kalaburagi, Jadhav registered a landslide victory over current Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge in the 2019 elections, getting 52.14 per cent of the total votes polled. The veteran Congress leader could get only 44.12 percent votes. Voting for the Lok Sabha in Karnataka will be held in two phases, in which 14 seats will be voted in the first phase on April 26 and the remaining 14 seats will be voted in the second phase on May 4. He condemned the murder of a man in broad daylight. Neh Hiremath, daughter of a Congress councilor in Hubli, also took a dig at the ruling party in the state for 'politicising' the issue, saying, "This incident should be condemned by the entire 140 crore people of the country.However, what is more unfortunate is that some leaders of the ruling party in Karnataka are trying to give a communal color to this incident. Even the Congress councilor said that the party is trying to politicize the incident and it will cause more wounds to the departed soul and staged a 3-4 hour long street protest in Gulbarga condemning the incident. Saying that the allegation was false, further alleging that the BJP was politicizing the murder in the election season, the CM earlier told reporters, “This is not a case of love jihad. I condemn this incident. We have arrested the culprit and investigation is underway. We will ensure that the culprit gets exemplary punishment.'We are committed to maintaining law and order and maintaining harmony.' However, BJP is trying to take political advantage from this incident. It is regrettable that they are taking advantage of the murder of a girl to further their politics. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi claimed that there was a 'love jihad' angle in the incident and said that the state government was not investigating the incident as it should.
