New Delhi: In the ongoing allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling AAP and the BJP over the water crisis, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday accused Kejriwal government of stealing water from the Munak Canal in connivance.

At a press conference, Sachdeva showed purported photographs and videos of water being drawn from the Munak Canal by tankers.

Sachdeva alleged, "The water supplied by Haryana to Delhi is being stolen by the tanker mafia from the Munak canal area. The water shortage in Delhi is a pre-planned conspiracy hatched by the AAP government to make money." Has been changed to."

Sachdeva also questioned the Delhi government as to why the long pending Chandrawal and Dwarka water treatment plants are still not operational. He said, "Delhi residents are struggling for every drop of water and the responsibility for this lies with the Water Minister, Delhi Jal Board and its officials."

Sachdeva said Delhi government ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj inspected the Munak canal area, where Jal Board officials confirmed that Haryana was supplying more than enough water. He said that despite this the ministers keep blaming the Haryana government.

He also said that Atishi was repeatedly talking about additional water from Himachal Pradesh but the Delhi government did not have the treatment and storage facilities for it.

He claimed that the Delhi Jal Board can treat only 900 million gallons (MGD) of water per day and any additional water will lead to theft and wastage.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said people were posting videos showing wastage of water due to leaks in Jal Board pipelines.Delhi Water Minister Atishi and AAP's national chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar targeted BJP and LG VK Saxena and said that Delhi Police comes under their jurisdiction, hence why did they not stop water theft.

In a press conference, Kakkar accused BJP of doing negative politics and asked why the LG cannot direct the Delhi Police under him to stop water theft.
