Port Blair: The BJP has increased its lead to 28,887 votes in the lone Lok Sabha seat of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where counting of votes was underway on Tuesday, according to the Election Commission.

BJP's Bishnu Pada Ray has got 76,762 votes so far, while his nearest rival Congress's Kuldeep Rai Sharma has got 47,875 votes.

Counting of votes in Andaman and Nicobar Islands was going on at Jawaharlal Nehru Government College (JNRM) in Port Blair.

Voting took place in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in the archipelago on 19 April.
