During seat sharing talks with Ajit Pawar-led NCP, BJP has secured seven seats from its quota.

In return, NCP got Dharashiv seat in Marathwada where the party has fielded former BJP leader Archana Patil against Shiv Sena UBT MP Omraje Nimbalkar.

Udayanraje had represented the Satara seat in 2009, 2014 and 2019 on NC (undivided) ticket.

However, in the 2019 by-election, Udayanraje, who had contested from the BJP, lost to NCP (undivided) candidate and former bureaucrat Srinivas Patil.

Udayanraje got 548903 votes as against 636620 votes received by Patil.

Of the six assembly constituencies in Satara Lok Sabha seat, Satar is held by the BJP, while Karad South is held by the Congress, Karad North (NCP-SP), Koregaon and Patan (Shiv Sena) and Y by Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

BJP proposes to ride on the PM Modi wave and the collective strength of 'Modi's guarantee' and Mahayuti.

Udayanraje will face a direct contest from NCP-SP candidate and MLA Shashikant Shinde who is expected to file his nomination papers soon as the last date is set for April 19.

Voting is to be held in Satara on 7th May.

Incidentally, Shinde, who is also a Mathadi Workers Union leader, has already filed his nomination papers on Monday in a strong performance in the presence of party chief Sharad Pawar, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and state NCP-SP chief Jayant. Patil.
