Golaghat (Assam), Congress candidate in Kaziranga constituency, Roslin Tirkey, claimed that the BJP-led governments in Assam and the Center are "experts" in advertisements but "fail" in good governance.

Tirkey also alleged that the BJP was pulling "political stunts" to woo Congress workers to its side during the election season as people were not with the saffron camp.

In an interview here, he expressed confidence of victory as the Congress leader claimed that people want "freedom from BJP" due to various issues. "Recently we are seeing people moving here and there." Said that all Congressmen will join BJP.I want to ask why he raised this during the elections. If they are in the majority, they should not ask people to join. I think this is a political gimmick that is going on," Tirkey said. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said several times in the last one month that all Congress leaders, including state chief Bhupen Kuma Bora, will join the BJP after the Lok Sabha elections. Will be included. In recent times, many Congress leaders across Assam have joined the BJP."They (BJP) are seeing that their strongholds are slowly being eroded. People are not supporting them, so they are showing such things. Some stunts have to be done and they are experts in publicity," he alleged. Stating that the BJP-led governments at the Center and the state are "mostly in advertisements", the former Congress MLA from Sarupathar claimed that they have failed to provide good governance as many issues are affecting the common people. Accused of attacking fundamental rights and using central agencies to put pressure on opposition leaders.“All systems are used to intimidate the opponent, which is not democratic at all… People are saying this is a secular country and everyone is equal and they will vote for change,” Tirkey said. The Congress candidate claimed that people are fed up with this BJP government. Wherever I have gone, people are saying that this (election) is like another freedom movement. Want freedom from."

Asked how confident she is of winning her first Lok Sabha election, the 42-year-old politician said she is contesting the elections so that she can be their voice and work for them.“If I win, it will be a victory for the people of Kaziranga constituency, this is a fight to protect democracy and the Constitution,” she said.

Tirkey's main rival, a prominent leader of the tea tribe community, is BJP Rajya Sabha member Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, a former Lok Sabha member from the neighboring Jorhat seat. Asked how she is coping with an experienced candidate, the Congress candidate Claimed that people have not seen Tasa raising his voice for Assam or doing anything for the state during his tenure in both the Houses of Parliament.

He said, "Though he belongs to the tea community, he is not a local resident of Kazirang constituency. He should have remained in the Rajya Sabha and worked for the tea community. On the issues she is raising while seeking votes, Tirkey said the Kazirang constituency created after delimitation has 10 assembly seats and each has its own problems.

"People want a solution to inflation, which is affecting everyone. If we look at the tea garden areas, the wage of Rs 351, which was promised, has not been given. So pitiful for a tea garden labourer. It is very difficult to survive in the situation. It is difficult to support children's education and the health care of the elderly."Tea garden people were also promised land rights, which have been denied so far. The BJP also sought to grant ST status to six communities, including tea tribes. It was promised, and it has not been fulfilled yet. In the name of 'Acche Din', we only got inflation and unemployment, nothing good happened."

Tirkey claimed that the government has “abandoned the tea tribe community despite getting an overwhelming mandate from the plantation areas.“I am seeing a change in the heart of the tea garden community,” she said.

He said, "People want peace and prosperity. In a democracy, it is the people who always form the government and they are the only people who can dissolve the government if they wish." Kaziranga constituency was renamed as Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat during delimitation. Which is currently represented by M Gaurav Gogoi of Congress. This time he is contesting from Jorhat. Voting will be held in the newly named constituency on April 19.
