New Delhi: The BJP on Friday demanded the resignation of the AAP government in Delhi over the chaos caused by heavy rains that led to massive waterlogging across the city.

The Congress, a partner of the AAP's INDIA bloc, also took aim at the party blaming the failure of its government in Delhi.

Senior AAP leader and Water Minister Atishi said Delhi received 228 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, the most since 1936.

Sachdeva, in a comment addressed to Atishi, said that after the water minister's bungalow was flooded, people of Delhi lost faith in the AAP government. He charged that corruption in the Delhi government and the MCD were responsible for the lack of silting of drains in the city. and the rain showed it.

"Corruption in Delhi government agencies first made the people of the city cry for safe drinking water and now they will suffer due to waterlogging every time it rains in this monsoon season," the Delhi BJP president said.

Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, sharing a video of a man rescued by fire brigade personnel from a bus trapped in a flooded underpass, attacked the AAP government in a post on X questioning what could be a major failure of the Delhi government.

"...How long will this publicity-seeking government mislead the people of Delhi?" Yadav asked.

The Delhi government is continually trying to "mislead" the people and make "false promises", he alleged.
