Shimla, Actor-politician and BJP's Mandi Lok Sabha seat candidate Kangan Ranaut on Sunday accused the Congress of insulting women and claimed that no leader from her party has ever committed such an act.

He also claimed that the Congress did not give due respect to BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, and patriots like Subhash Chandra Bose, V Savarkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Her rival on the seat and Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh accused the BJP of spreading lies and alleged that Ranaut was being indoctrinated and was speaking without paying attention to the facts.

Singh, who is also the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister, while trying to know the outlook of the BJP candidate for Mandi constituency, said that people's hearts cannot be won by using foul language and making false allegations.

Addressing election rallies in Seraj and Banjar assembly constituencies, Ranaut said, "Their (Congress leaders) mentality is such that they insult me, (BJP MP) Hem Malini, Jaya Prada and other women, irrespective of their age. Or whatever the marital status.We wonder how low they can fall."

A controversial comment against Ranaut was posted from the account of Congress leader Shrinate on the social media platform. Following a controversy, Shrinet removed the controversial comments from all of its social accounts, claiming that these were not posted by them, but by someone else who had access to their accounts.

The Election Commission condemned Shrinet for her derogatory remarks against the dignity of women.Ranaut claimed that no BJP leader ever used such words for women and listed various initiatives of the Narendra Modi government for the welfare of women.
