Barrackpur (WB), BJP leader Arjun Singh on Friday said the saffron party does not indulge in communal politics as it believes in taking everyone along.

Singh, the BJP candidate from Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat, was responding to claims by the ruling TMC in West Bengal that the BJP is playing religion-based politics.

“We believe in taking everyone along without appeasement. And, why can't we highlight the issue of construction of Ram temple (in Ayodhya) before the elections? He told in the video how talking about this issue in the campaign can be called communal.

Singh, who is seeking re-election from the North 24 Parganas district constituency, accused Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee of raking up local issues and targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an "extremely unfair" manner at election rallies. Also accused.

“But, all this will not work,” he stressed.

“I am reaching out to the people, highlighting the Sandeshkhali issue, which has embarrassed every resident of the state, as well as exposed the unprecedented levels of corruption under the TMC regime… Voters will be asked to answer these in the elections. Are ready for it.” Singh said.

On the challenge from his TMC rival and one-time colleague, Partha Bhowmik Singh said there is no competition with the minister of state.

“His (Bhowmik's) reach is very limited. I have no competition with them. I am 200 percent confident about my victory.”

“What does the public ask of a politician? They want their leaders to listen to people's problems and work for them. They don't care which party the leader belongs to. I believe I have already proved myself on this front.”
