Former chief minister Kamal Nath, who was in the monitoring room at the party headquarters along with state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, left around 2 pm.

Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath, who was the only Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh in 2019, was trailing BJP's Vivek Bunty Sahu by more than 50,000 votes.

After coming out of the party headquarters, Kamal Nath said, "Whatever decision the people of Chhindwara take, we will accept it. Overall, India Bloc is performing well and is moving towards forming the government."

Initially, the Congress was hopeful that it would retain the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat and had anticipated that big leaders like Digvijay Singh and Kantilal Bhuria could win in their respective constituencies. However, the party suffered a major setback due to the lagging behind of all three.

In 2014 and 2019, the BJP won 27 and 28 seats in the state, respectively.
