Shimla: According to Election Commission data, BJP is ahead of Congress in all four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal Pradesh.

BJP candidate from Mandi Kangana Ranaut is leading over her Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh by 74,925 votes. According to Election Commission data, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, who is contesting from Hamirpur seat for the fifth time, is ahead of Congress's Satpal Raizada by a margin of 1,62,916 votes.

Former state BJP president and current party MP from Shimla, Suresh Kashyap is leading by 88,295 votes and BJP Kangra candidate Rajeev Bhardwaj is leading by 2,43,173 votes.

Bhardwaj's Congress rival Anand Sharma has accepted defeat.Former Union minister Sharma said, "Contesting elections from Kangra was a great experience and I humbly accept my defeat and congratulate Rajiv Bhardwaj for his success."

"I am grateful to the Congress party leadership and colleagues who trusted me and, knowing that Kangra is a BJP stronghold, I accepted the party's decision," he said.

"I am grateful to the people of Kangra and Chamba for their love and affection," he said.

Kashyap said that the results are on the lines of exit polls and people have made up their mind to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister for the third time.

State BJP chief Rajeev Bindal said that the people have once again given the mandate to the party.

Bindal said in a video message released here that despite the fact that the Congress government misused its power, the BJP is leading in all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh.He said it was a "big defeat" for Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu who has "failed to deliver" during his government's 18-month tenure so far.

Earlier in the day, Kangana Ranaut and her rival Vikramaditya Singh prayed for their victory. While videos of Ranaut praying were being circulated on social media, Singh visited Jakhu temple with his family members.

Counting of votes for Lok Sabha seats and six assembly constituencies, where by-elections were held simultaneously on June 1, began at 8 am at 80 counting centers across the state.

The assembly constituencies where by-elections were held are Sujanpur, Dharamshala, Lahaul and Spiti, Badsar, Gagret and Kutlehar.
