LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday called for dialogue among political forces to resolve issues like inflation, unemployment, poverty and terrorism, which is facing a cash crunch, according to a media report on Monday. The country is doing it.

Addressing a seminar on "Bhutto Context and History" here, the former Foreign Minister said, "People are troubled by inflation, unemployment and poverty. Apart from these, terrorism is also an issue for the country and the people.”

“If politicians don’t talk to each other, how can these issues be resolved,” the 35-year-old leader asked.

The PPP chairman, who is the son of late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, said his father President Asif Ali Zardari had given a message of reconciliation in his address to the joint parliament session last month. However, he said it was unfortunate that people who did not want reconciliation created a ruckus, Geo News reported.

Bilawal said that his party was trained by former prime ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

"Our character should match their training and we should represent those great leaders," Bilawal said.

Bilawal's grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was President of Pakistan from 1971 to 1973 and then Prime Minister from 1973 to 1977. He founded the PP and served as its president until his execution in 1979.The former Foreign Minister expressed displeasure over the political culture prevalent in the country.

“At present, politics of hatred is going on in our society. Politics has been turned into personal enmity. Bilawal was quoted as saying, We do not respect differences in our society.

The PPP Chairman said that despite all this, PPP always believes in political dialogue and reconciliation.

“The 1973 Constitution was the result of consensus. The 18th amendment to the Constitution was made with consensus during Asif Ali Zardari's presidency. We did all this by taking all political forces together in Parliament.

Talking about the Supreme Court verdict in the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case, the PP president said that the judicial verdict in the Bhutto case was the result of the long and arduous struggle of the party workers and the 30-year struggle of her mother. ,

Bilawal said, "This reference was sent by President Asif Ali Zardari to the Supreme Court to get justice for Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto."

The PPP chairman said the apex court heard the case and came to the conclusion that justice was not done to Bhutto and the trial against her was not justified.

We consider this verdict historic and now that the court itself has acknowledged that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's conviction was wrong, we should pursue judicial reforms.Judiciary can also bring its own reforms but that is primarily the function of Parliament,” he said.

Meanwhile, reports say Bilawal is likely to return for another term as Pakistan's foreign minister as the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) look to finalize a power-sharing deal. were close, the Express Tribune newspaper reported recently.
